People's Charter for Change enhancing Fiji's international relations: PM

Fiji has formalized relations with 114 countries, including the 37 countries that Fiji has newly established diplomatic ties with since the end of last year.

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama revealed that while speaking on the theme "the role of mediation in the settlement of disputes by peaceful means" at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Saturday, says a media release by the Ministry of Information.

This was all part of the People's Charter for Change especially the enhancing of Fiji's international relations. Bainimarama was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, the Fijian prime minister offered his Pacific island nation's support to the work of the UN in safeguarding world peace including all international counter terrorism efforts.

He stressed that the people of Fiji needed the understanding, space and assistance from all trading and development partners, to ensure that true and sustainable democracy took root in Fiji.
